When i took a law class in college ages ago, we discussed this in light of what then seemed like a loophole too. Pregnant gals would come to the country in their 9th month just to have the baby here. Eventually moms and dads got to stay. Seems silly to be different than the rest of the world in this regard.

My point is that we have to deal with illegals in the country already one way but change the citizenship rules so the next gen of illegals cant use the argument that our kids are citizens. This is the way it is all over the world. I dont know of another country who grants citizenship based on geography of birth. It was orignially done to increase immigration way back when, but now over immigration is a problem with mexico and resolution is necessary. I am not asking for citizenship to be reversed for anyone who has already been born here.

They banned citizenship by birth in Canada not too long ago because pregnant women from China were flying there specifically to give birth. Perhaps it's one of Canada's policies we could adopt?
