Many, I think he was a sterling example to the young people of the nation too. He was a very sickly boy, and refused to give in to it. He spent a lot of time in the wilderness, and built his health, and strength up to become a robust, healthy, and strong man. Any person that has read about the attack up San Juan Hill in Cuba, will be awe struck by his, and the Rough Riders, bravery, and "never give up" attitude.
