Explosive growth has made the People's Republic of China the most
power-hungry nation on earth. Get ready for the mass-produced,
meltdown-proof future of nuclear energy.

<China on the other hands, just dumps willy nilly into waterways, has awful air standards, uses up valuable agricultural land, and fails to enforce against even the most egregious cases. That's because cronies and fat cats make money under such a system.>

You actually had a chance to review their environmental standards? You examined their enforcement efforts and commitments? You researched and discovered that "fat cats" were to blame? You now have the knowledge to make an assessment of "the system" -- wow Russ, I thought you were just take a little drive around the block with your girlfriend with an "open mind" -- you really must have been busy. Do you have the slightest idea of what is actually going on? Or are you just so overwhelmed by the immensity of the challenge that you assume it is 'hopeless' due to 'fatcats' in a terrible 'system'. It is easier to fill in the gaps in your knowledge with your stereotypical assumptions than with any serious attempt to discover the underlying truth. Meanwhile, back in your clean little world, the 'fatcats' in the USA can damage the ecoshpere beyond repair, secure in the knowledge that they are breathing 'clean' air.

Now, please keep in mind, >60% of those factories which dump toxic materials into rivers in China are foreign-owned/joined foreign-owned (JV) And most of the most environment-unfriendly goods consumed in the US are produced in China! Like papers, toys, shoes, leather goods, all kinds of chemicals… you name it. There are >1,300 chemical plants in one single district in TianJin city (<150 miles from Beijing). And this type of clusters of chemical plants are all over China.

Yes, China is SOOO stupid to pollute their own environment for the interest of the people in developed countries for earning pennies on a dollar of processing fee. And yet, China has to take ALL the blames. What a Hippocratic world this is!

It is true that the Chinese gov. should actually enforce their environmental regulations, but local officials want the foreign investment, and foreign companies are taking advantage of of that as well as the loosen environmental regulation.

China has banned imports of electronic junks. Yet, >70% of electronic junks in developed countries still end up entering China illegally!

And anyone here wears Cashmere sweaters? If they do, they are deserved to share some of the dust from Mongolia. Ever since the end of 1970s when Japanese noticed that goats (whose hair are used for making cashmere) eat grass along with the grass root (the land becomes deserted after raising goats), Japanese stopped raising goats, and move the whole business to China - Inner Mongolia. And now >70% of cashmere in the world are produced by China, and majority of those goats are raised in Inner Mongolia, where is the MAJOR source for the dust storm in Beijing in spring. And yes, those dust has traveled as far as Arizona, US. After all, the nature does NOT discriminate anyone or any country!

So don't just blame China!! Blame the greed of Capitalists and capitalism all over the world, especially those from the WEST!! And it is a good thing that the dust drift around the whole planet. So everyone can share some.

This year, dust storm from Mongolia Republic drifts to Japan and Korea pretty bad. BTW, Mongolia is pretty hot now for their rich iron ore and copper mines, which has drawn a lot of international capital. The exploration of those mines destroys the environment there further, and the dust storm becomes worse and worse. Any one here invested in those mines are in fact indirectly supporting the destroy of the environment! Similarly, anyone who invest in gold also indirectly supporting destroying of the environment around the world!
