Bush has always been pro illegal immigration (for big business, agri-business and to get cheap quasi slave labor to replace good-paying American jobs) and the GOP has controlled the government for 5 years, so blame them. In fact, Bush is the one for amnesty, though he won't call it that. All responsible Americans including most Hispanics and democrats want a more secure border. But it's a geographical headache of mammoth proportions and it doesn't help that we have all our money and manpower tied down in Iraq at the moment. Even the 700 mile fence that racist Tancredo rants for would probably only slow things down. But it's true, we have to try something. Then of course there's the huge Canadian border and our seaports and coastlines. As Michael Moore's FAHRENHEIT 9-11 showed, there's only one lone patrolman in charge of the entire Oregon coast when it comes to being on the look-out for illegal boats or aliens. So I were smuggling in illegals I'd land a boat at Coos Bay. The only known Al Qaida types to come into the US over a land border have come from Canada. Clinton's people caught the LAX bomber at the Washington State border.
