Liar. Carter did not do nothing about the Iranian hostages, he dared to send in a major Delta Force rescue mission complete with devices to spray the entire area with knock-out drugs. It was a high-risk operation which was doomed when sandstorms swept off the desert and downed two of the Sea Stallions. Or else the mission was sabotaged, or both.

The disgrace is that operatives associates with Reagan (and the Iran-Contra gang) went to Iran and secretly negotiated illegal arms sales only if the Iranians held onto the hostages until after the election. The arms shipments to Iran happened on numerous occasions during the Reagan era and were unethical and illegal.

Carter is certainly our best-ever ex-president if not the the sandstorm and the Arabs deciding to basically go on strike to pressure high oil commissions for themselves, he would have been a two-termer. Also, the huge debt of the Vietnam War was dumped on Carter which helped send interest rates spiraling.

Two important things Carter did, that is fund a huge new solar power program (which reagan scrapped 100% and which we need now) and bringing Israel, Egypt and Jordan together to make peace.
