SanDisk Added to S&P 500 Wednesday April 12, 6:05 pm ET SanDisk to Replace Chiron in S&P 500 Index, Scientific Games to Join MidCap 400 Index biz.yahoo.com NEW YORK (AP) -- Credit ratings agency Standard & Poor's, a division of publisher McGraw-Hill Cos., said Wednesday SanDisk Corp. will replace Chiron Corp. in the benchmark S&P 500 Index. Swiss drug maker Novartis AG is buying biotech firm Chiron. SanDisk, of Sunnyvale, Calif., makes storage products based on flash memory. The company is a component of the S&P MidCap 400 Index and will be replaced by Scientific Games Corp., which provides instant and online lottery tickets and services. The changes are effective after the close of trading on Wednesday, April 19.
