AMD might be able to get some sales by being a better copy than the original. But unless they branch off to their own proprietary architecture, they'll just be a second source. As I said a while back, I just don't see how these intelligent people on this thread can think AMD will defeat Intel in a price war. I am now convinced that hatered of Intel and wishful thinking clouds their minds on this issue.

While AMD has 2 12-inch FABs ramping up 90->65nm production.

The difference is, AMD is doing it with 16,000 workers and it's taking Intel 99,000 workers.

Which explains why AMD's Gross Margins are heading up towards 60% while Intel's Gross Margins are heading down towards 50%.

And why Hector doesn't seems to be worried about winning any price wars....
