Many Americans have become dependent for their economic futures on the returns from their investments and/or from the increased valuations of their houses.

The problem is that these returns have dried up. What percent of the American population is fiscally responsible and can maintain the same standard of living by just living off its salary?

Those are the issues Kerry ran on in 2004. And if Rove had not run such a dirty campaign, or if the truth about Bush-Cheney had come out by election day, Kerry would be president today, even without a southern accent.
