Maybe the only thing that saves the US is that the individual States still have some power they can exercise against the interference of the long arm of the Federal government (or in the case of MA, the long arm of the state).

If Massachusetts and California are representative of state action, the situation is far worse than surmised, for it guarantees the deterioration will continue at the optimally pernicious rate while the ROW is forced out of their exhumation holes by the need to survive to become running dog capitalists.

This allows for people to be able to vote with their feet, which some are doing in large numbers out of states with paternalistic socialist policies to states where the attitude is that no one should be compelled to buy any product.

And go where? Other states will have to adopt similar programs to ward off the invaders.

The problem is that the states are becoming increasingly polarised politically.

A non-issue. That's merely an argument about who will pay for the increased socialism.

Of course this didn't mean they changed their stupid policies, it just meant they tried to find some way to reach into the outlying region to extract their extortion.

There's no escape, not with the prevailing universal conviction that socialism is the superior way.

Marylanders voted in their first Republican governor in 60 years in response (against a Kennedy no less)so I have some small hope for the People's Republic of Maryland.

Don't kid yourself. So what did they elect? Another Mitt Romney?
