Does that include car bombs, mortars, IED's and RPG's?

I think who ever wrote that story is full of beans.

Do you know that the Sept./Nov. issue of the Saturday Evening Post states that the average firearm death rate in Iraq was 60 per 100,000, while the average firearm death rate for Washington D.C. was 80 per 100,000? They conclude "we should immediately pull out of Washington!"

First, there is no Sept/Nov issue. Try Sept/Oct.

Hold the freakin phone Jack. Do the math.

x/100,000 = 2500/150,000 average number of troops over three years

or the death rate over the last three years/100,000 is 1,667/100,000.

The annual rate is 556/100,000 deaths and that is only for the soldiers...doesn't count civilians.

It's also reported in 2002 that Washington DC had the highest murder rate in the nation of 45.8/100,000. This includes all methods of homicide.

So you're 12 times more likely to die in Iraq doing your soldiering that you are walking down the street in Washington DC. Most of the murders were probably drug and gang related, so if you keep your nose clean your chances of getting offed in DC are much much lower.

What a bunch of hooey. I found the piece in the Saturday Evening Post. They didn't bother to credit anyone with the statement. But it's clearly a lie.
