Our high school has a lovely auditorium that was a federal project. There was a also a beautiful piece of sculpture in a government building in our town, that had a sort of Diego Rivera look to it- and sure enough, when I looked it up on line, it was a WPA piece. The CCC was also amazing. Heck, it was all amazing. The programs gave people hope, and dignity, and also made lives palpably different, and better.
