Correct. This is what is always done, but usually the public isn't told. Something like the sudden disappearance of the Soviet Union.

We would have an efficient within its model form of free market capitalism. The problem with black market capitalism is it isn't a particularly efficient form because it precludes the economies of scale possible when individual participants can get large. Black markets make such economies difficult to put together. American wealth was built on these scales, not on American ingenuity or any other advertised factors.
