Oh, I also wanted to mention...

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. (Matthew 24:34)

It is rash and presumptuous to assume that when Christ says "this generation", that he necessarily means that he is referring to the generation at hand.

He had just got done mentioning a number of signs that should come to pass, and it is entirely possible that when He said "this generation", that the Savior was referring to "this generation" that will see all the things which must be fulfilled.

For in the preceding verse He says:

"So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." (Matthew 24:33)

and then:

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. (Matthew 24:34)

I seem to recall some of the Fathers pointing out that the generation Christ is referring to is "this" generation which is appointed to see all the things which must come to pass.

I will look them up later when I get a chance and post some commentaries to this effect. If my memory serves me correctly I'm pretty sure St. John Chrysostom explained it in this manner.
