General Swannack, who headed the 82nd Airborne, did complain at the time. He says other Generals are keeping quiet out of loyalty to the troops.

most of the generals said over and over we needed at least TWICE the number of troops that they received.

because he knew what to do and the administration would have nothing to do with it
