I have been told that people from India like Maple Leafs because their purity, since it will probably be made into jewellrey. There are some technical applications that would prefer the 4 nines purity. It also occurs to me that at 4 9's this could be used a semiconductor bonding wire. It appears that 4 9's might be a good input for the process of making bonding wire, it is no longer used directly as pure gold.
