I'm going to read his book, but he is taking on Crosnan's landmark "The Politics of Jesus." Not to mention Jim Wallis's "God's Politics." Having read both, they are both concerned with sociology as politics. Wills sounds like he considers them two different arenas of activity. So, they are arguing more about whether to define politics broadly or narrowly.

One thing we know for certain: the apostles lived in a commune in Jerusalem. Whether that makes them political Communists or not is a different topic. <G>
