W. Barron Hilton won control of the Hilton empire after challenging his father's will, Conrad Hilton who died in 1979 leaving the bulk of his estate to his philanthropic organization, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Hilton lost a multimillion dollar lawsuit in the Tailhook scandal when the court determined liability for not providing adequate security. The hotel chain is under constant attack from unions and recently Nuns from the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary joined a boycott in LA regarding union busting tactics at the Hilton Glendale.
