Yes. By putting in the suffering necessary to stop them from invoking arbitrary constraints on wealth creation they've made a great leap forward. They'll get all the wealth that comes from laissez-faire capitalism. In contrast, the West, in an attempt to hide its indolence and drunken wealth hangover is trying to use socialism to assuage its guilt for something that doesn't need a guilt remedy. That both the attempt at collectivism and the eventual rejection of it are the defining characteristics of capitalism? Never. Collectivism is a political reaction, not an economic one. It sets forth a false ideal that when everyone gets the same thing, fairness, things are good. There's no societal evolution in that regime, only stagnation and decay. There must be differences, classes, rich and poor, to drive the dynamism of progress and evolution. While the adoption of mixed economic policy in the West is simply an attempt to prevent evolution, i.e. refining the existing dogma so as to preserve it. Yes, the worst of all worlds. Under communism disaster is reached quickly. Then a nation won't attempt control for fear of bringing back the "darkness". This is what China is doing as fast as it can, contrary to the reports of amateurs like wobbly boy. Will China eventually succumb to the same problems found in the West? Probably, but long before that happens China will amass huge wealth and prosperity that will dwarf the West. It depends to what extent they compromise their laissez-faire capitalism. Meanwhile the West will sink inevitably into the morass or slough of despond of fairness. Its mixed economy approach precludes it from getting the benefits of laissez-faire while the negatives reduce its ability to compete against the advantage of those practicing laissez-faire. We shouldn't say "the West". The big loser is the US. The ROW doesn't have a choice. They'll be forced to become laissez-faire states since they're too poor to go on with mixed economy. The US will become the last bastion of collectivism as it tries all combinations of what is good and fair.
