Al Gore did not mention race, only the program.

I would never say both sides do not use fear- why heck, that's pretty much what our last couple of elections have been about. I was only using it as an example of race baiting- a very specific kind of fear, that was related to what I was discussing. They don't come up (such exmaples) all that often, and all that blatantly, anymore (thank goodness).

Do you think the use of race baiting is of the same moral character as the use of other fears? Fears which do not necessarily turn us per se against each other, as citizens. A nuclear bomb, for example, is coming from "outside"- while race baiting is an attempt to get one part of society to fear another part.

Bushies don't give a damn about the law. They believe they are above it. And the kind of huge ripoffs we've seen in the energy and health care sectors are worse than 100,000 hold-ups or muggings.
