My next apt neighbor is a professional dumpster diver. He has two dumpsters that he checks the day before the contents are transfered to the garbage truck. It's sad and hilarious to see his giant size 16 tennis shoes and legs up to the knees sticking out of the dumpster while he digs through the layers of trash. He empties every garbage bag to see what people have thrown away. I think welfare pays his rent. My apt complex has a shared kitchen for each 4 apts. The poor guy needs to have a leash with a keeper attached. He crashes and bangs around in the kitchen and talks out loud to himself most of the time while he stomps as if he weighs 700 lbs and is wearing lead boots. His apt complex nickname is "Stinky". He takes a bath once a month whether he needs one or not. Sadder than sad. He is the nicest, friendliest guy you want to know, but his personal habits offset that. He needs to be in a home somewhere, but I think welfare pays his rent rather than the much costlier nursing home. He is also a slob in the kitchen. Only cleans his cooking messes if someone points the messes out to him.

Ironic part is he has a degree in biochemistry. I think he used too many experiments on himself. :(

I generally tote the stuff off to Goodwill and take the tax write-off.
