"I fear Latino gang members because I lived in a barrio for several years." Not much gang action of any type around here. I've never lived in an area where Latino gangs were a problem, so it isn't something I associate with immigrants, legal or no. So the negative qualities I associate with illegal immigration is economic. The illegals aren't the gang members. Typically, its the next generation who are offended by their parents' lifestyle........citizens of one country but working in another..........and feel empowered because they are American citizens. The gangs completely control the barrios of LA. Its one of the most scary aspects of living in that city. LA is like Rio de Janeiro or Mexico City. There are the favelas or barrios where the poverty is extreme and the gangs control the day to day life and the police are essentially powerless.........and then a few miles away, there are the wealthy living in guarded areas of the city. When the riots started in LA, the LA police rushed to Beverly Hills to protect Beverly Hills; not LA. And the worst part of all, like I've mentioned before, the LA gangs have now hooked up with the MS-16 gang out of Central America, the most violent gang there is. They are setting up branches of the gang in eastern American cities following the path of illegal immigration. Its really frightening how there is not more discussion about this gang and its American operations. One day Americans are going to wake up and realize their cities are being held hostage by these gangs.
