Re: So when we get Intel's report next week we'll see whether Intel has bled a river, or more likely made several multiples of AMD's profit.

This just in: Intel to post profits several times higher than AMD's, water is wet, and the Pope is Catholic. News at 11.

"That means that in effect Intel's ASP has come down ?"

Yes.

"Does q1 '06 qualify as the quarter that has very disadvantageous ASP for Intel ?"

No. It is just the first quarter where Intel has had to cut prices to try to stem the market share loss. They are trying that by cutting prices on only a few models and retaining prices on most.

"So when we get Intel's report next week we'll see whether Intel has bled a river, or more likely made several multiples of AMD's profit."

Nope, they won't bleed, Yet. But the sign of future prospects will be there. Gross margin will be below AMD's, for example. Stock holder's equity will be down, again. Just look at the numbers.

We know that AMD's CPU Revshare in Q1 one year ago was 9.5%.Have to wait 'til INTC posts this Wed. to know for sure, but I'm thinking that AMD's Revshare will be around 17%, up about 7.5 points over the past year.

Hmmm. Wonder what that means? And to think that Fab 36 hadn't even ramped yet.

Well, we now know that AMD's net profit in Q1 rose $200M YoY! How much are you estimating INTC's to increase by?
