Ted, You are ignoring an important statistic......the people who made FEMA what it is today were hired by GW Bush. When he goes, they go.

They're all bureaucrats to me. Find me someone, even a Democrat, who will break through the bureaucracy and I'll vote for him or her.

You know, Ten, just like there are good employees of INTC and bad ones; there are good bureaucrats as well as bad ones.......probably in a similar ratio to INTC. I know that's probably a big shocker to you. What you find offensive about bureaucrats is mostly what they are required to do under their job description........conditions that were set up by legislators either on the local, state or federal levels.

And the other big shocker........bureacracies are not going away anytime........I mean, do you see INTC getting significantly smaller in the near future? So rather than railing at bureacracies why not try to improve them with constructive suggestions?

Finally, to get back to my original point, Bush brought in some seriously incompetent and/or indifferent people to work in DC. Its a problem that the next president will have to redo. And as we post here, these incompetents are making the gov't worse, not better. We have evidence of that on several different levels.
