They are - no surprise here - Muslims. The closest to Turks you get would be Kurds from the border areas close to Iran. Turks per se would not get amnesty in Sweden today because they don't meet the criteria required for political asylum. Here some stuff to read for a starter, all about the current ethnic crime situation in Scandinavia. Well documented in Denmark, to some extent in Norway and almost not at all in Sweden, where even mentioning the problem labels you as a racist on the spot. Very interesting. I started reading the articles you posted which had links to other articles. I read horror story after horror story of how rape, child molestations, vandalism and robberies were on a huge upswing in Sweden. I read about Joanna Rytel, the Anne Coulter of Sweden.......how she gets away with saying she will never marry a white man and hates them while people like neo nazis who complain about minorities get put in jail. The more I read, the more horrified I became. It seemed crime had become as common as lutefisk in Sweden.......and that rape, murder mayhem were the norm. In fact, it started to sound as bad as 21st century America! And while the immigrant population in general was blamed for the increase in crime and rape, it didn't make sense since many of those immigrants are Danes, Norwegians, Yugoslavs, and Greeks. Its unlikely that the Norwegians, Finns and Danes for sure, and probably Greeks and Yugoslavs would be more violent than native Swedes so the pointing finger quickly shifts to the Muslim immigrants. The more I read the more chilled I became. So I finally looked up statistics for the Muslim population in Sweden, a country of 9 million people. Given the discussion and how effected Swedish cities had become, I figured the Muslim population had to be well over a million people.......at least. To my complete surprise, the number of Muslims is 3% of the population......or 300K. This is what the big brouhaha is all about?? I couldn't believe it. news.bbc.co.uk Seriously, Taro, if 300K Muslims can freak out Sweden, then I suspect many Swedes are racist. As an example, they can't seem to discern what is different between what J. Rytel says and what a neo nazi is saying. Rytel tells us that she hates white men and claims she will never marry one........well Coulter says much worse. Its obnoxious but its called freedom of speech. However, the neo nazi who was thrown in jail was making very critical claims about a whole religion without any serious facts to back up him. That's why he was thrown in jail.......its the discriminatory equivalent of yelling fire in a movie theater when there isn't one. And as for the increase of gang rapes in Sweden.......I did a search. This was the first article in English that popped up: thelocal.se On first blush, it would be very easy to read into this gang rape that the perps were out-of-control Muslim men, because nothing is said about the race of the men in the article. However, if you read the article carefully, you see that the woman knew the men. In fact the more you read the more you sense that probably the perps were Swedish men, or at a minimum, men with whom the woman had been friendly at one time. I am not saying the rape was okay....far from it. However, I could see how some racist could read into the article and see Muslim men instead of Swedish men. For the racist that's easy to do. Its the racist that helps to create the climate of fear that starts to eat at the rest of the population. And if the articles are any indication, that's what's happening in Sweden. What a pity......I am sure the Swedish right is having a field day.
