History will show that even when we were in a position to crush this madness, our own intellectual nihilism crippled us and allowed a monstrosity to be born.

I'm having a hard time understanding the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Ahmadinejad said, less than a week ago, that Iran had enriched uranium -- apparently to 3.5% -- and they need 80% for a uranium bomb -- and more centrifuges than they have.

Cool heads are estimating years before Iran actually joins "the nuclear club."

It seems to me that they're trying to scare us because they believe that once they have a nuclear bomb we'll be too afraid to attack them, so they're trying to head us off.

Actually it sort of reminds me of Saddam's alleged WMD, but that's a side issue.

Why are we doomed to failure before we've even tried diplomacy, sanctions, bribery and every other trick in the book other than pre-emptive nuclear strikes?

What do you see that others don't?

Other than the obvious, the percentage of people in America and elsewhere that would support said strikes is probably barely in the double digits.

Wonder what the Leftist/Liberals will say about this, Derek? President George W Bush is an aberration, an exception to a rule under which all American presidents since Truman, when faced with serious setbacks abroad, have "run away". Iran's current strategy, therefore, is to wait Bush out. And that, by "divine coincidence", corresponds to the time Iran needs to develop its nuclear arsenal, thus matching the only advantage that the infidel enjoys.

It's hard enough having madmen saying things like the current President of Iran says every day, but worse when your own countrymen/women won't/don't/can't see what is really happening. One would think everyone in this country would want to pull on the same rope, in thinking of various ways that might work, not including nuclear alternatives....
