Well wait a minute.<g> I have listened to some very "different" Muslim Ministers speak. They were very against war and the mistreatment of women and stated no one is going to ge 71 virgins or whatever. I think in all religions we have our Jerry Falwell's in Christianity, the Catholics throught out history that have condoned conversion at the point of a sword or knife and ones who shipped pedophile priests from location to location and we all know there are plenty of "whacky" Muslim holy men too. But there are also "bad" people in the home loan business, and as car mechaics etc. I just think that most if not all religions all want their own gateway to heaven and they all claim they have the only way and many have left a rotten mark on history for many different reasons. I know you are much more learned than me DAk and I respect your opinion. I guess my rub is that once religion gets the big buildings, the big following that like any thing else power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I would imagine the Churches of today and a bulk of religious philosophy today is not what Jesus, Buddha, or Mohammed had in mind but that is just me shooting from what my perception is and my perception may not have any basis in fact. It is exactly the same as Islam, what are you talking about? The catholic church recently told people in africa not to wear condoms even to prevent aids and then went on to say they didn't even work. The catholic church does not allow wearing of condoms at all or birth control. And the 1864 papal order makes the pope infallible. He either is or isn't! And why does he need a popemobil if he is protected by god-lol.? Don't use condomes to prevent aids? You don't think that is pretty barbaic. And what about sex equality. How many women are at the top!!!!!! It is one of the most sexist entities in the world!! How many women popes? How many women catholic advisors? Just like Islam! We do not allow that type of sexism anywhre else in our society!! And the nuns kiss the ring of the fathers and what kind of retirement do nuns receive compared to fathers. The whole institution is barbaic!
