I think the story was "Both." :-)

I can't believe it. In 2000, they had any economy tsuch as had not been seen in more than 70 years. No generally a good economy will carry a Prexy to another term. But Gore was seen as Clinton II. And lost. Unbeliveable.

Then in 2004, GWB had 2 wars going, neither exactly an astounding triumph. And he won again.

And they can't even figure out they have a problem.

Amazing.
