I currently live in Berlin and find it an interesting place, but wonder about the economic viability sometimes.

While the seat of government brings in plenty of money, it is a city of 3 million with no major corporations outside of Sony Germany and (soon to be Bayer) Schering Plough.

After Schering gets gobbled up, there will not be a single DAX 30 company headquartered in Berlin. 17 years after fall of the wall, companies from the west have not set up major offices or production facilities in Berlin to a large degree.

Last summer, a contact was helping a Chinese woman that was setting up a business to purchase five star hotels in Berlin.

I was just curious if you see some major development in Berlin that is not obvious to the locals.

Good luck.
