Environmental Blowhards 2006 TED KENNEDY

No politician in America has a darker history with the waters off Martha's Vineyard than Senator Ted Kennedy.

The Chappaquiddick Kid has been leading a three-year old battle to stop a windmill energy farm. A Boston company proposed building 130 wind turbines over a 24 square mile area off the Massachusetts coast. The wind turbines would provide three-quarters of Cape Cod's energy needs and nearly two percent for all of New England instead of relying on coal burning power plants. Greenpeace supported the idea.

Yet big-time environmental liberals, the Chappaquiddick Kid, Robert Kennedy, Jr. and the befuddled Walter Cronkite oppose the plan. Cronkite admitted it was a NIMBY issue not-in-my-backyard. The infamous Kennedy compound, and Cronkite's seaside home are on the nearby shore. Located six miles offshore, the turbines wouldn't even be visible from land. Their opposition is over how it would affect their offshore sailing activities. Other wealthy Cape Cod residents worry the windmills might disrupt Figawi, an annual yacht regatta.

It appears these environmental blowhards support clean, environmentally friendly, alternative energy sources only if they're located in places such as North Carolina or West Virginia.
