Re: "There has yet to be any proof produced that Saddam assisted Al Qaeda on 9-11 or on any other occasion."

ABC News reporting that the guy behind the WTC bomb in '93 was seen living freely in Iraq, is proof of support for Al Qaeda. The intelligence indicating that an Iraqi hired by an Iraqi escorted 911 terrorists to meet with each other, is strong evidence (and when captured, that escorting Iraqi possessed plans relating to past Al Qaeda attacks). Other reports of Iraq's involvment with Al Qaeda exist, and are strong evidence. That Saddam said he always considered the U.S. his enemy is strong evidence. Existing proof that Saddam paid off families of suicide bombers is strong evidence for the war in Iraq, in this age of suicidal terrorism.

Removing Saddam surely changed the picture greatly for the better. We have afforded this war and seem now economically stronger than you or I might have imagined. We could not have afforded to not have taken it on, IMHO. Considering the war materials Saddam was in the midst of procuring even during the run-up to this war, he may well have hurt us pretty badly on the way in, had we waited a year for inspections to remain inconclusive.

You need to clear Saddam of being Saddam, to change my mind. You need to show that he did NOT sympathize with Al Qaeda's activities, and that he did NOT monetarily reward families of suicide bombers. You need to actually debunk all the reports indicating Saddam's complicity with Al Qaeda and other terrorism, all the testimony, all circumstantial evidence which exists despite the known stealth of both Al Qaeda and Saddam, and in fact, Saddams own words of ill intent for America. Then, you'd change my mind concerning the justness of this war in Iraq.
