In fact, its much bigger than racism. Racism is just one of many issues. The fear you sense in this guy's writings is that after escaping the South, the South will overcome the North and he will be stuck. That's possible but not likely. The US has a rather unique problem. It has two similar, but different cultures living under the same roof. We can't afford to have another civil war........so we either find a way to get along so that both cultures can get most of what they want, or we split.....and if we split, I suspect it will be like the Balkans........we will fracture into several pieces.
