Peter, Whatever Teddy condemned Taft for, it was an example of him speaking his mind without caring what others may have to say about it. That can get a person in trouble at times, but I have to respect the guts to do that.

The main things I have against FDR, was that he refused to listen to the commanders in the Pacific, and caused a situation that any military man knows is a catastrophe waiting to happen. The entire Pacific fleet should never have been assembles at Pearl Harbor, but FDR sent an executive order for that to be done. We all know what happened then. Social Security has turned out to be a huge mistake, and was begun in the first place, to get votes. Then his weakness at Yalta made the cold war a probability.

Harry was a successful business man, which was a plus for the Presidency, and had the sign on his desk that "the buck stops here". Also, I have to respect a man that threatens another man with a black eye for disrespecting his daughter. Not very tactful, but true American.

The calibre of politicians in those days, was far above what we have today, for the most part.
