China is cracking down big time on pirated goods and has recently passed measures that ensure that all IPR's are protected. Hu didn't visit Seattle at the beginning of his trip just to smell the fresh air. He rode in on a plane made by Boeing (did you hear about the $5 billion plane order?) and had dinner with Government and Business dignitaries at Bill and Melinda Gates house tonight.

If Europe has any brains at all they would take a lesson. Either that or allow themselves to get caught up in the manufactured chaos of the ME.......their choice.

In the mean time the trade gap between the U.S. and China will narrow when all of those new computers (loaded with the latest and greatest MSFT programs) are sold to the new middle class. And let's not forget QUALCOMM and the b's of dollars of product waiting to be sold.

We'll also be doing more business than ever with the new middle class in India and other developing countries in Asia and Eastern Europe.

Along with knowing that several countries in the ME are also concerned and apt to act to contain Iran, one can almost see a good future ahead.

I think I'm going to run out and get a Starbucks. ;)

Well, perhaps I should just say the American Advantage would become even moreso. Western Europe has been decaying for a long time, at least since WWII, mainly cause of Socialism and the decadence that system leads too. American productivity has increased mightily over them due to our better work ethic and technology. Personally, I dont think we need Western Europe to survive nearly so much as they need us anymore. Eastern Europe does show some promise but a lot of that depends upon how Russia develops. If they slide back toward Communism and socialism then all is lost and the AMERICAS better get their act together and act as a unified group, that combined with the Orient provides a mighty big market for everyone. jdn
