He and the C.I.A. put together an $18 million package to undertake it.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!! Since when does a Congressman undertake covert actions WITHOUT the president being involved (and consequently, his National Security Adviser and staff??)

This is "honor"?? This guy is trying absolve the Clinton administration of ALL RESPONSIBILITY for a CIA funded mission that CLINTON'S CIA director undertook..

Is Richard Clarke and Steven Simon trying to tell us that their administration was SO INCOMPETENT that they couldn't even control intelligence operations.. That they had to be run by congress?

Come on now... just how stupid do they expect Americans to be??

The administration draws up the budget and various congressmen work to obtain the funding within the congressional budget system. Gingrich might have liked the idea of overthrowing the Iranian government (only the Iranian Islamo-Fascists wouldn't like an idea like that), but no covert action on this order happens without the approval of the President.

This what I mean... It's JUST RIDICULOUS how the Democrats are trying to "white wash" their failures and blame them on Republicans.

Dealing with the Islamo-Fascist threat is a MUTUAL problem that BOTH PARTIES have to deal with..

This kind of BS is just what I'm talking about when it comes to liberals playing partisan politics with national security and foreign policy.

I suspect USGovt leaders want Iran to retaliate against US
with Bushy ratings so low, they might seek distractions

my suspicion is US Military Generals dont like what they see
they have begun the most comprehensive war campaign of words against USGovt leaders

this seems like a clear game of chicken and poker

will Russia and China side with Iran ?
will Iran use Russian missiles to defend itself ?
will Iran or Al Qaeda hit Saudi facilities ?
will Hez Bollah strike at US in 20 sites ?

the wild card is Hez Bollah
