I don't think many folks from the midwest can afford FL anymore and when you are poor traveling the world or leaving familiar surroundings is the furthest thing from your mind.

I am open to being corrected - how much does it cost for people to live in mish's hometown Danville?

The dollar menu at mcdonalds in danville is the same as the dollar menu in clearwater eh? A dollar.

Rent in a typical run down trailer park is 250-350 a month in many places around me - is it much cheaper in danville? I bet not. I know a lot of retirees making it on 800 a month SS - are they driving new cadillacs or eating 100 dollar red lobster - NO - but they can walk on the beach for free, get that nice warm weather and sunshine and lots of other FREE things you dont have to be rich to enjoy. There are so many free events, the library, local festivals, things at the mall - unbelievable how rich you can live. Like Grace said - it doesnt cost to walk into Wegmans and look around eh? hehe
