One reason to tell people you've put them on ignore is so that they'll stop posting to you, since you're not reading their messages. I ignore people who post the same stuff, over and over, despite all evidence to the contrary. Many Bush supporters fall into that category, but so does American Spirit. I've got a lot of ignores, from Bush supporters, because I kept telling them how bad the clown was during the last campaign and providing evidence on their worship threads.
