I've heard from a few sources of RE investors that do 'short sales' that lenders are finally wheeling and dealing after a 4-5 yr period where lenders never discounted distressed deals. Now taking it back as an REO and trying to recoup your full cost basis via a turnkey MLS sale at FMV is no longer a given..
