It is not and will not be established that Bush would have taken us to war in Iraq absent 911.

It is established that Bush wanted to go to war with Iraq on day one of his administration. 9-11 became a convenient "reason" to do what was already desired by him and many if not most of his administration. They wrote about it, and they even wrote about needing a "Pearl Harbor" like event to get public support for a war. Wolfowitz and others in the Bush administration told Congress that oil revenues would pay for the war. We were sold a war in Iraq, using fear as the main selling point, backed up by the vision that oil would pay for it all.

It sure can't be established what Bush would have done absent 9-11...that's because 9-11 happened! What a useless statement.

Comparing Saddam's level of threat to Hitler is useless too. Saddam was contained. Hitler had a war front on every border in every country and all over Europe, Russia and Africa. A war machine fed by massive industrialization. With the Japanese allies they were taking the Pacific by storm, and they did hit us at Pearl Harbor.

You need a lot of spin to insist that an Iraq invasion was needed because Saddam was turning into Hitler. Saddam barely was able to keep his own infrastructure patched together and had little or no industrialization. But of course you and your ilk are not above spin when it justifies your neocon military expansion.
