The left brain is involved in sequential logic and the right brain in the "simultanous juxtapositioning of things" (big picture).> So Mencken's left brain assessment of his right brain's "simple answer" (One of my heros H.L.Mencken once said: "for every complex problem there is a simple answer, and it is usually wrong"-lol) might simply be an artifact of his environment since the statement: <I think the best thing to do is feed the mind with information> is actually only part of the story since "the mind IS FED" by our environment also holds truth, and as you note: <The C mind does see the U at work in 10 to 30 second cycles if it is in tune with itself, but there is nothing it can do.> So K's point that (Hardware without software is pretty useless. We learn how to think, we are not born knowing how. Reading or college is important because it provides us with the wisdom of the world.) actually depersonalizing to 'programed' from 'learn' leading to a lot of possibilities depending on right and left brain interactions, including perhaps something like: 'college is important because it loads our left brain hard drive with the information that may or may not be utilized to enhance our right brain wisdom". It may also be mistaken for 'truth', which would be impossible (since left brain is also linear in it's processing) unbeknownst to left brain. Also not apparent to left brain might be Jung's 'collective unconscious' mentioned here by K, whether his left brain believes it or not: <All cultures have their own wisdom and together provide a much stronger mind.> ie. cultures ARE together and interacting, regardless of appearances to the contrary due to artifacts of left brain mentation. The modern, left brain, thinking, also takes A LOT of energy to run.... hence I'll go back to some right brain activity for this lovely Friday :) DAK
