>>>Please explain why I would 'wish' to be on a side that is defending Janklow, and what would I be defending him for?<<<

Of course you don't wanna be on a side defending Janklow. His actions are indefensible. So weren't Kennedy's. And I respect you're not wanting to defend Janklow.

But what jlallen and Vandalay do is something akin to a kick in the nuts when the Kennedy name--or now the Janklow name--gets brought up ad hominem. You see, bringing up the tragedy Kennedy encountered 30 or more years ago doesn't fit at all with today's debate topic which is the downfall of the Bush Administration.

Think about it, one best defends Bush by defending Bush; not by attacking a tragedy that happened to Kennedy back during the days when Bush himself was driving drunk. I mean where's this kind of debate gonna go? Where could it only go? Read: digression!

Now, where I have a problem with what you did is that you added fodder to what was unnecessary to begin with.

In closing, I believe I'm finished with this subject--time to move on--lol!

Lets compare and contrast Janklow and Kennedy:

Janklow on the way home from duties of office runs a stop sign and kills motorcyclist.
Teddy leaving drinking party drunk drives off bridge, does NOT kill companion.

Janklow stays on scene and cooperates with authorities.
Teddy flees scene, does not help trapped companion, companion dies as result.

Janklow is charged, tried and convicted of crime.
Teddy, protected by political prosecutor seeking favor from powerful democrat family is never charged.

Janklow is now a private citizen.
Teddy is now one of the most powerful democrats in the Senate.

Presidential prospects:
Janklow - never had them.
Kennedy - screwed them up when asked point blank why he wanted to be president didn't have the wit to come up with an answer.
