See now you are trying to change the meaning of what chromatic said - he said certain FOOD and certain essentials fell by more than 50% - eggs being one of the things that fell a lot. He also said assets didn't fall all that much - like houses across the broad market - I mean I post it here in black and white for you and elroy and you take when chromatic say FOOD and EGGS and read that as CPI - you have to become a better reader and comprehend the messages better of your confusion is always going to get the better of you. CPI - I don't know how it was calculated in 1929 - I dont know what all is calculated today - I know many people have problem with it - I do know chromatic said FOOD though went down 50% - not CPI - but you read it as CPI - you have to read it several times I guess. No way. As a matter of fact, the govt had price support mechanism (through cooperatives) for food prices and hence the prices were fairly high even though international prices were falling!! Yes chromatic went into all these gubbment programs to subsidize food prices - look I have friends in fla now in gainesville and ocala who are paid NOT TO GROW corn - do you understand what I am saying? The land is there - they grow other things on other parts of the land - but the gubbment pays them money to keep the land ABLE to grow corn - but NOT to grow the corn. We are in supposed energy crisis - brazil able to meet all her gas needs growing corn and sugar cane and such for ethanol right? Bill gates just invest in ethanol - but these friends still getting paid TO NOT GROW CORN - HAHA! silly eh?Because of this Farmers were overproducing as per AGD!! Also in AGD, Murray Rothbard said that meat packers were selling meat at high prices and making huge profit and people wanted govt to take action against them... So, nowhere in AGD is it mentioned CPI fell 50%. How come when chromatic says FOOD and essentials or commodities - you see that as CPI - that is like I keep saying to elroy BROAD MARKET and all he keeps spewing back to me is LA county house prices dropping 55%. Where do you see CPI in this previous post?Message 22379540 bankdersysrisk.blogspot.com Issue #2 “Also, in 1929, not just commodities, even food prices and essentials fell a lot ( greater than 50%) in price. The Story of Agricultural Goods, the WFC, and the RFC Food prices in the Depression fell due to collecting a huge amount of agriculture goods through subsidizing farming not to deliver to market, then the enviable dumping of product. Murray Rothbard goes into this into great extend in his book called “America’s Great Depression” in his section of “The New Deal Farm Program”. Goods and services otherwise were really not effected much at all. Housing fell some, but never went down to its pre asset bubble values. Can you show me where he talks about CPI falling 50%? No I can't - because he didn't say CPI - he said food prices I said EGGS - you said NO WAY eggs fell 50% - I provide you link showing yes they did now you want to say CPI - Jay it gets very frustrating trying to debate a point with you and you keep changing the definition - I can talk EGG prices with you - that is something that is CONSTANT I feel - CPI - that is magic wizard spell and I think most here from mish to ahahah to myslef agree magic wizard spells are not good ideas.(Actually Murray Rothbard doesnt believe in CPI). For good reason I bet - why do we value bugsy's casino but not the transistor? Why do I value hookers but mish values fresh fish? Why does elroy value latin houseworkers and grace values wegmans? See the madness of it all. Just to let you know, just as today Fed is using core CPI as guidance, in 1929, Fed used some obscure whole sale price for guidance (and not the CPI). Well there you go. I gave you a link that gave the price of an egg over the years - an egg today is not much different than an egg 2000 years ago eh? Lets see those wizards hedonically adjust that shit! HAHA! You heat it up and cook it and it satiates your hunger for a few hours - none of this hedonic shit like with cars and computers eh? History doesnt Rhyme, it repeats - ditto- Well Einstien said god doesn't throw dice - and General Chen said the universe is so circular - round and round we go. Eve stuck it to adam in the garden of eden and all her women children sticking it to all my men friends still today - so maybe you are right! HAHA!
