So rather than railing at bureacracies why not try to improve them with constructive suggestions? Intel has to deal with competition, especially from AMD. If the Intel bureaucracy isn't lean and efficient, profits will disappear, and eventually, so will Intel. That doesn't mean that gov't bureaucracies are fat and inefficient. I've worked in both; the differences are not as great as you might think. Besides, there is a certain bureaucratic quality to INTC.......its why a much smaller company with considerably less financial resources can back them up against a wall from time to time. Personally, I prefer private industry because there are less rules and more resources from which to pull.........and the pay is better. However, most people in gov't want some job security.....that's usually why they are there.Government bureaucracies, on the other hand, are not subject to the forces of the free market. Just toss your constituents a bone every now and then and you can get away with increased spending, along with the resulting higher taxes and/or deficits. Yours is a cynic's view that I am sure has been reinforced by RNC literature. And for the record, you are mixing politicians with gov't workers. They are not the same thing. Furthermore, gov't workers are not allowed to jackoff like you think. They too have bosses and periodic job reviews just like private industry. Finally, to get back to my original point, Bush brought in some seriously incompetent and/or indifferent people to work in DC. Its a problem that the next president will have to redo. And as we post here, these incompetents are making the gov't worse, not better. We have evidence of that on several different levels. I never claimed that Bush is the enemy of government bureaucracy. On the contrary, he has done absolutely nothing to reduce it, despite his business background. "Reform" in his mind is adding more layers of bureaucracy, compounding the problem. This is what happens when you leave the bureaucrats in charge of fixing things. What's needed is some strong leadership to cut through all of it. Its more than that........he has put in people who either are incompetent or don't care. As a consequence, key agencies are screwed up.
