They seemed fairly content to leave in many things pagan as well , such as the birthdate of the Hero , ....though only more recently has the morose and somber drudgery associated with a belief system based often on an idea that one of the requirements of God was martyrdom , has seen more happy celebrations in recent centuries . Again due to older pagan forms seeping back in , that never really left for life really is a celebration .

There were certain difficulties with martyrdom, for it encompassed suicide which was a form of murder . Some sects of early Christians sought their way towards martyrdom , but had to work around the first commandment by curious ways . Like fundamentalist Islam today in almost the same vein the early Christians were more often than not an easily incensed & abrasive cult that sought out Martyrdom by attempting to force themselves into highly charged emotional states . Some Romans were inclined to point out often that many sea cliffs abounded , and that Christians should feel free to throw themselves off of them anytime they felt their God was calling them back home . ;-)

It was debated back then that Jesus may have commited suicide too , he certainly was a martyr and mythical "hero" of the cult . The Mother Church later exaggerated , the actual numbers of deaths of early Christians due to persecutions were numbers of some 1500 per annum on ave ....not the thousands and thousands everyone somehow still have been led to believe . The early Christians also were a Jewish sect .
