Gasoline Supplies Shrink

The U.S. Energy Department weekly report showed a decline in U.S. gasoline stocks, raising worries that refiners don''t have an adequate inventory cushion before the peak summer driving season. The decline, the seventh in a row, pushed gasoline stocks to 4.6 % below year-ago levels, their lowest level since November. Gasoline inventories typically decline at this time of year as refiners shut down their plants to perform maintenance before the summer driving season.

This item about copper stands out -

"China’s demand is cyclical. As the current wave of investment in the electricity sector tapers, demand should normalize. Smelting capacity should rise in response to high profitability. There is a puzzle here too."

The overall observations that trade is maximing world growth, bypassing the limitations of individual countires, is excellent.

One the self fullfilling prophesis needing a herd mentality - yes, but note that this means a herd mentality relative to the size of the market. The oil market is super huge, the iron market is huge, the copper market is large, the gold market is a moderate size, and the silver market is small. Palladium is almost a tiny market....

I will be re-reading this again.

I wonder what the financial crisis(es) will be.

Insurance Company defaults due to a major CAT? People forget about this one but if we have a major quake or another Katrina watch out below.

A few banks due to debt defaults (this could take a while) so if its sudden I would think its still a out in the future.

Also since we are experienceing a large CAT year (tornado's to date with Hurricane season in 6 to 8 weeks) it would be prudent to be under weight P&C insurers / reinsurers.
