Hi, Frank -

I'm not disputing the theoretical correctness of Peter's points. I'm sure that advances on many fronts will mitigate interference problems in ISM bands (which seems to be where he's going).

But even in licensed spectrum, congestion can be a problem. Granted, these are not limitaions on the "pipe" but that, by definition, was excluded. The original parameters of the discussion were a "finite" pipe:

"1 - Any finite transmission medium can eventually become saturated with traffic."

So it follows that problems with RF are with system constraints:

"Practically, I think we've imposed capacity constraints on spectrum use by design and other pragmatic limits. The capacity of the medium may be infinite, but the limitations imposed are human."

Within pragmatic limits, no matter what esoteric technology is applied at ISM bands, the Tragedy of the Commons will eventually arrive.

If one wants to speak theoretically, without pragmatic constraints, well, anything is possible.

JMO,

Jim
