And remember, it's NOT I'm ok you're ok. The whole premise is that that you are NOT ok, which is why you "need" to attend. That bothers some people- when a company decides (as they do) that everyone needs the training just because one person had an incident- and the people who feel that way have a point. But it's definitely NOT about being ok.

Still, even though the mandatory forcing of attendance can be perceived as insulting, there is still plenty to learn. We all have prejudices, and most of us do not examine them on a regular basis, just as most people fail to examine many of the more unpleasant aspects of their behaviors or personalities on a regular basis. It's easier to just carry on doing what you've always done, that try to reexamine yourself, and make the effort to change. These trainings can be a time for forced reevaluation, and that's probably good for everyone.
