Thanks M!

FWIW, you generally described a process I go through to deal with my claustrophobia when it rears it's ugly head. Since I never know when it will hit me (in this case it's been many years since my last serious episode), I've learned that at times it's necessary to get through the situation by sheer will power. That's where I "visualize" something that literally takes me away from where I am at the moment.

One thing I have learned is that there's no use trying to explain what you are going through to folks who don't have claustrophobia. Unless they've experienced it first hand themselves, they just don't understand. Hell, I don't understand it myself. When you think about it, almost every time your claustrophobia strikes you aren't in any real danger at all, yet your panic & fear levels are completely off the charts.

In any event, I elected to take a double dose of ativan (which did absolutely nothing), sucked it up & just toughed it out. My only other choice was to be anesthetized, then jammed into the tube. That would have meant waiting several weeks to have it scheduled.
