you can comfortably assume that somebody knows something you don't. The income statement and balance sheet are no longer reliable sources of information unless you also factor the observed market action of the stock into your judgments. So a proper investment decision now requires you to consider both valuation and market action (that sounds familiar…)

The philster says the market maker/specialists add further to the fun of the wall street rigged casino. That while the broad market and sector is going up they play funny with individual issues - they keep dropping or raising prices in defiance of logic - knocking out stop points - shaking shares lose at the worst time from investor's hands - it is thier job and they are well trained at it. Its like putting grace zaccardi in the ring with mike tyson - an amatuer investor doesn't have much chance against the pro - moominoid went into this with game theory and it being a "loser's game" some have the logic of this confused - but luckily google search is there for us dummies.

To my thinking, if an open source encyclopedia can trump your reasoning you are just being intellectually lazy.

I know some of the PHd types that edit these wiki's - you would be foolish to think they are not good sources of information by well educated, deeply knowledgeable people. Some wiki's are edited by crazy fools - but over time peer review seems to eradicate some craziness.
