Where are you today? It's splendid here in Seattle today....It's 68-73 or so, little breeze, no clouds in the totally blue sky, and all the flowering trees and shrubs are out....

Very nice.

We're currently a coolish 61. 80 by Friday, and 85 on Saturday.

Now, that is about ideal in my book.

I'm in Victoria on Vancouver Isalnd in Canada. Beautiful city, well worth a trip if you haven't seen it.

Splurged on a few nights at the Empress Hotel. Great place. Understated elegance. Subdued superb taste. Marie referred to it as the Audrie Hepburn of hotels.

Car trouble, though. MUCHO car trouble. OK till today. We drove from Seattle to Port Angeles to get the ferry to Victoria. At Port Angeles, we had 1/2 tank, so I stopped at a Chevron and filled it. Car started OK at the gas station. Then we got in line for the ferry and turned off the engine. It almost wouldn't start again. About 6 attempts, battery and check engine lites come on, finally it started. I think the Chevron station had bad gas- -probably water mixed in. The car sat on the ferry off for the 1 1/2 hour passage to Victoria. Same 6-12 attempts to get it started once the ferry reached Victoria. Finally it started and we drove to the Empress Hotel. Stopped it there, unloaded luggage, tried to restart it to put it in parking garage. No luck. Parking attendant started there was thick smoke coming out the tailpipe when I tried starting it. We walked to Avis, they gave us a GM (?) phone # to call for road service. GM goes nuts when they hear the car is in Canada but was rented in the US. I told them we had cleared this with Avis TWICE before renting the car. They are now trying to figure out what to do. They say all they can do is tow the car. Across 60 miles of ocean? We still await hearing there hairbrained scheme to fix this.
