Yes, that's true. I think there may be other reasons too sometimes involving the way they were brought up. That's a pretty complex subject - I think a book should be written on it.

I think not.

People take joy in individual achievement and living up to personal responsibility. They innately feel guilty about taking from others and resenting people more successful than they are. Each corresponds to the subject political philosophies.

People comfortable with the status quo are frequently busy supporting it. People who are suffering or who have time to think about their circumstance, are more likely to innovate and support change.
